Got some great advice on writing the first 5 pages of your script.
The main points being...
It has to quickly show what kind of sitcom you're watching. The premise / theme / tone / comedy / etc.
Cut ruthlessly. You always write more than you need, and the audience is pretty smart. They'll get it.
The main character has to be active. Too many new writers have passive characters who have things happen to them. They have to create their own problems.
Comedy is about difference, which can generate conflict.
Specificity. How would this character react, it should be different from any other character.
There was a lot more.
It was a great few days. We got to show Andrew and John Pocock (BBC producer) our work, using some fantastic actors, and see how our rewrites went.
Now to put some of this info into practice.
Easier said than done.
