Ho ho ho! Santa here. I thought I’d just come by to mention that Christmas, is still going ahead. I’m up here in the North Pole, self isolating with Mrs Christmas and the reindeer. The past year has been pretty hard on everyone, I know. We were unable to visit Mrs Christmases parents which was a real, bummer. I soooo wanted to go. They’re great people. Of course they didn’t want Mrs Christmas to marry me. They said, he only works one day a year. And he only owns one suit. And it’s red. Well, let’s just see if they’re on the naughty list this year. No presents for you, Mr and Mrs Berkowitz. Let’s see how you like that. But anyway, I will be going ahead with my usual Christmas Eve journey to bring presents to all the children of the world. I got the lists you sent me. And I have to say, a lot of you are asking for the new I-phone 12 Pro. Do you know how much one of them costs? Do you think Santa is made of money? I did some rough calculations and I’d need to spend about four hundred billion pounds in the Apple Store. I don’t have that kind of money so, yeah, some of you are going to be a little disappointed. Not that long ago I used to bring kids oranges and a Beano album. And they were happy. Now, you’re not happy unless I bring you everything on page 27 of the Argos catalogue. This year has been one where we’ve all had to tighten our belts. That’s not easy when you’re as fat and jolly as me. I know Christmas is a special time of the year. We all look forward to it. This year, it’s going to be a little different. It’s been a hard year, lots of people lost their jobs. Money is tight. People are worried about Covid. We may not get to see the ones we love. But the spirit of Christmas, that feeling of joy, of friendship, of family, that, will always be with us. So I ask you to keep a special place in your heart for this wonderful time of year. It’s not about Sony Playstations and designer clothes. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. And as we get closer to December the 25th, I want you to remember that Christmas is a feeling. It’s not a thing. You can’t wrap it. You can’t send it through the post. It doesn’t fit under a tree. It’s a day of giving. And it could just be a few pounds to a charity. Or a small thoughtful gift to a friend. It’s remembering a lonely neighbour by sending a card. It’s a feeling. It’s the greatest feeling in the world. Trust me. I’m Santa. I wouldn’t lie to you. So be grateful for what you get. Be grateful for what you have. And one last thing. Put a carrot out for Rudolph, but for me, well, Mrs Christmas has put me on a diet. So, no cookies. And none of those low fat cookies either. They taste terrible. Merry Christmas, one and all. Happy hanukkah. As-Salaam-Alaikum. Be good. Love, Santa. x |
